The Gumbo Lilly Band – performing July 18

3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
The Gumbo Lilly Band will be performing on the Watering Hole Stage 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. during The Matthews’s 38th Festival in the Park (Spearfish City Park).  This is a FREE event.

Gumbo Lily is a wildflower of the west growing in the gumbo (clay dirt) of South Dakota and other western states. Pegie saw a street sign in the middle of the prairie in South Dakota called “Gumbo Lily Lane” and thought that would be a great name for a band. Rebecca and Pegie started singing together in 2010. They met Bobby at a jam and for some reason he agreed to play with them. Then he talked Rex into joining. What luck!

Band members are Pegie Douglas-vocals, guitar, spoons. Peggy, formally a member of Rusty Strings and Carolina Cowgirls, is a retired exceptional children teacher living in Morehead City, spending summers in South Dakota and playing music wherever she goes.
