Preparing for the variety show, “The Black Hills Travelin’ Medicine Show,” with humans can be challenging at times.  Imagine working with puppets.  Imagine rehearsing with them.

Gordy Pratt spent a rainy Sunday afternoon working with Markie Scholz and Susan Hey and their attitude-filled puppets.  Getting the puppets to say what is written in the script can be a challenge.  Markie’s company, “Dragons are Too Seldom Puppet Productions” and Susan Hey and Leonard Running of “Butterfly Puppet Theatre” are combining talents (and puppets!) in the Nov. 14 show.

The puppets will be providing running sarcastic commentary from The Matthews’ upper box seats over the stage.  Along with the puppets, there will be music from Gordy Pratt, Paul Larson, and Kenny Putnam.  Susan Hey and Leonard Running will also be onstage, sans puppets, singing a few of their own folk songs.
