About the Author

Dawn Newland is a western author, artist, and weaver of the threads of history. She lives on a ranch at the three-state corner of Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. She has four grown sons and three grandsons. Raising livestock and riding horses still plays an important part in her summer ranch activities, while winters are spent in her studio doing research and writing. Researching real people from the early frontier days is a passion with Dawn. She weaves her findings into real-life historic novel form. Whether in word or picture, Dawn authentically portrays the lives of those brave souls that went before us and tamed the west. Dawn is the author of Of Men and Horses, a series based on the life of Lucy Tressler Thornhill; A Dead Hard Country; Crazy Woman Creek; and an upcoming book Arizona Tough.
