CALLING NORTHERN HILLS WRITERS OF ALL AGES! The Matthews Opera House is hosting a writing contest and we want your poem or short story to be a part of it!

Works must be based on our contest theme: Origin Stories

There will be CASH PRIZES for each age category. Prizes and contest details are below.

Contest Details

1. Each person may submit ONE short story AND/OR ONE poem. Stories should be between 500 and 3000 words for adults and between 250 and 1500 for children. Poems may not exceed 60 lines.
2. All entries must be written based on the contest theme of “origin stories.”
3. Entries must be emailed to marketing@matthewsopera.com by June 30.  In the email include your name, phone number, work title(s), and make sure to attach the document file to your email.
4. Any story or poem that is partially or entirely plagiarized will be immediately disqualified.
5. A panel of judges will read and score the stories to determine the winners.

Short Story Kids Category  (Ages 13 and under)
