Theatre 605 Tours (formerly Dakota Players) brings their professional touring residency to Spearfish! Up to 55 local students will audition, rehearse, and perform a full-scale production of Space Pirates! — a new children’s musical — all in one action-packed week.
Professional touring Actor/Directors Nessa Yaakova and Noelle Hall lead every step: auditions, rehearsals, costumes, set, lights, and sound. No experience or advance preparation needed.

About The Show
Join Casey on an adventure from a mundane museum tour to the chaotic realm of alien spaceships and pirates. Captivated by ancient artifacts, Casey is transported to the Zooglebotz spaceship, where aliens gather Earth’s items to learn about humanity. When space pirates attack, Casey devises a clever plan to save their alien allies and return home. The story promotes friendship, self-discovery, curiosity, and teamwork, complemented by a lively soundtrack of pirate shanties and alien ballads.
Who Can Participate?
Students entering 1st through 12th grade (Fall 2026). The cast includes up to 50 performers plus up to 5 assistant directors (ages 10+). Roles include Parrots, Alien Interns, Alien Scientists, Pirates, Students, and Aliens.
Schedule
- Monday, June 8: Auditions (10:00 AM) and first rehearsal
- Tuesday–Thursday, June 9-11: Daily rehearsals, 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Friday, June 12: Dress rehearsal
- Saturday, June 13: Performance(s) – Times TBA
Cost
- Registration: $50 per child. Paid at time of registration or at auditions (June 8)
- Performance Tickets: Available at the door — suggested prices: $10 adults, $7 seniors, $5 children.
What to Know
- No experience or advance preparation needed for auditions
- Auditions are fun and easy — directors use them to see all students and find where they best fit
- Cast members should bring a snack for the daily break
- A detailed rehearsal schedule is provided after auditions
