The Matthews is hosting visual artists and writers of all backgrounds for a community exhibit celebrating the warmth, comfort, and creative spark found at the intersection of art and literature. This exhibit explores how written words, such as books, poems, journal entries, personal stories, and more, inspire creativity that slows us down, grounds us, and invites us into a deeper experience of our environment. The exhibit will be displayed in an intentionally inviting atmosphere designed to celebrate comfort, third spaces, and the joy of slowing down. Visitors will be encouraged to settle in, linger, read, and experience the art in a relaxed, cozy setting.
This show is in collaboration with Henry’s Books as part of our “Mini Big Read” programming, where events will be hosted that encourage reading and focus on this year’s book selection, In the Distance by Hernan Diaz.
