Here’s a taste of our Matuto evening at The Matthews.

You don’t get this kind of music every day in Spearfish — Matuto.

Were you at the Matuto concert on Jan. 23?  Were you part of the Conga line?  The band took a video of that evening’s performance and just posted one of the songs, “Saudades Da Capital,” by Rob Curto — accordian guy.

“Saudades Da Capital” by Matuto, Jan. 23, 2015

This Choro style tune was written by Rob Curto. He spent many months in the capital city of Brasília, Brazil studying this style with local masters.  Saudades has no direct translation in English, but describes a deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something or someone that one loves. This composition is a tribute to Brasilia.
