On Monday, Dec. 15, The Matthews’ board president, Dan Contonis, presented a check for $1,500 to Spearfish High School assistant director, Brenna Meyer. The check was the result of ticket proceeds from the high school’s presentation of “Arsenic and Old Lace” on The Matthews’ stage Dec. 4-6.
The students originally performed the play on Nov. 10-11 at the high school. Matthews’ Executive Director, Sian Young, SHS director, Cynthia Scherer, and Assistant Director & Technical Director, Brenna Meyer, got together and decided that the kids needed to showcase their talents again. After breaking down their set and transferring it to The Matthews, the play ran Dec. 4-6.
As an added bonus, it was mutually agreed upon to donate ticket proceeds back to the Spearfish Drama Department.
