A big thank you goes out to the Spearfish Optimist Club from The Matthews! Today they presented us with a grant check to go towards our children’s programming. It costs lots of money and manpower to bring the kids’ programs to our community.
What kind of children’s things do we do..you may ask?
Well let’s see. Here’s a list of past, present, and future events at The Matthews.
- The Peanut Butter & Jelly Players Summer Theater camp — a month long theater training for grades 2 thru high school. It culminates at the end of June with the 3 day performance of a wonderful play. This year is “Beauty & The Beast, Jr.”
- School Residencies made possible by the Spearfish Foundation for Education. Different professional musicians visit our Spearfish schools to perform and in many cases, instruct.
- Festival in the Park children’s activities, in particular, the Arts & Crafts booth and Spearfish Creek boat races
- Throughout the year we have free community art projects for all ages
- This fall we will premier our Young Family series…stay tuned on that one!
