SUMMARY:Writing Contest
DESCRIPTION:CALLING NORTHERN HILLS WRITERS OF ALL AGES! The Matthews Opera House is hosting a writing contest and we want your poem or short story to be a part of it! \nWorks must be based on our contest theme: Origin Stories \nThere will be CASH PRIZES for each age category. Prizes and contest details are below. \nContest Details\n\nEach person may submit ONE short story AND/OR ONE poem. Stories should be between 500 and 3000 words for adults and between 250 and 1500 for children. Poems may not exceed 60 lines.\nAll entries must be written based on the contest theme of “origin stories.”\nEntries must be emailed to marketing@matthewsopera.com by June 30.  In the email include your name\, phone number\, work title(s)\, and make sure to attach the document file to your email.\nAny story or poem that is partially or entirely plagiarized will be immediately disqualified.\nA panel of judges will read and score the stories to determine the winners.\n\nPrizes\nShort Story Adult Category (Ages 14+)\n1st Place: $75 \n2nd Place: $50 \n3rd Place: $25 \nShort Story Kids Category  (Ages 13 and under)\n1st Place: $25 \nPoetry Adult Category (Ages 14+)\n1st Place: $75 \n2nd Place: $50 \n3rd Place: $25 \nPoetry Kids Category  (Ages 13 and under)\n1st Place: $25
