DESCRIPTION:The Matthews celebrates its 110-year anniversary with a school residency art workshop titled\, “The Pillar Project.” The eleven finished pillars\, one for each decade of The Matthews being the cultural heart of Spearfish\, will be on display in the art gallery during business hours\, Nov. 14-Dec. 16.   \nSpringfield\, SD visual artist\, Cheryl Halsey\, brings her unique cylinder\, also referred to as pillars\, technique\, and instruction to three schools in Spearfish. The project is a celebration of our community’s continued support of the arts over the last 110 years. It is to be a historical representation of local\, national\, and global history. DESCRIPTION:MUSIC FOR THE HOLIDAYS\nSeason Thirteen! \nA variety of talented pianists will perform together at noon\, Wednesday\, Dec. 14.  This event\, as for all Bellman events\, is FREE and open to the public. \n“Music for the Holidays” is the title of the December concert of the Spearfish Piano Duet Club. The club has performed on the popular Brown Bag series since 2004. \nPerformers include Sue Cole\, Donna Dettman\, Mary Fetters\, Ramona Hauck\, Ardyth Helmer\, Rita Hicks\, Laura Kolb\, Janeen Larsen\, Colleen McKirdy\, Lori Miller\, Angie O’Shea\, and Symeon Waseen. BHSU students Abby Belus\, Alan Bonde Carissa Deming and\, Liz Luke\, will also perform. \nThe Spearfish Duet Club began in 2003\, under the leadership of Synva Chrysler and Marianne Bieber\, as a way for intermediate and advanced pianists to maintain their piano skills and at the same time have fun and enjoy each others’ musical talents. Members of the community and BHSU music students are involved in the performance and rehearsal activities.  \nBring your lunch — we’ll have the coffee on.

The role of academia was to bring the applied science into the home\, families\, and community. \nIda Marie Snortland\, retired SDSU Extension Agent of Lawrence County will present. \nPlease join us to learn about the history of the profession to promote skills for everyday living. \nWhat is the Bellman? \nThe Bellman Brown Bag series is a humanities program designed to explore ideas\, history\, literature\, art and culture.  Programs are presented on the second Wednesday of each month\, noon to 1:00 p.m.  Designed to begin and end within each lunch hour\, patrons are invited to bring their lunch\, if desired\, or simply enjoy an hour of learning and entertainment.
