SUMMARY:Helios & Chronos
DESCRIPTION:Stop by the Matthews on Thursday\, February 9 from 5-8 pm in the Matthews Art Gallery for a cyanotype printing project. \nCome join us as we take a step back into history and explore one of the first printing-out processes created. In this workshop\, we will explore chemistry mixing\, coating techniques\, and printing tips for making cyanotype and solar fast prints. Cyanotypes are one of the oldest photographic printing processes. The distinctive feature of the print is its shade of cyan blue\, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light. Alternative solar fast chemistry creates a variety of color options as well. Participants will use a variety of objects from nature and acetate film paper to create their own unique prints. \nThis event is free to attend\, however\, space is limited to 8 participants. Registration required.\nTo hold your space\, call (605)717-6967 or email engage@matthewsopera.com. \nAbout the NEA Big Read\nThe National Endowment for the Arts Big Read\, a partnership with Arts Midwest\, broadens our understanding of our world\, our communities\, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book.
