DESCRIPTION:THIS IS A FREE EVENT\, BUT WE ENCOURAGE RSVP\nWhat to Expect:\nOne Hour of Yoga – A grounding and accessible practice suitable for all levels\, featuring gentle postures\, deep stretches\, and mindful breathwork. Flow through slow\, intentional movements to release tension\, improve flexibility\, and create space in both body and mind. \nOne Hour of Sound Healing – After movement\, surrender into deep relaxation as you are immersed in the healing vibrations of the Dark Star Gong\, Seven Chakra Singing Bowls\, Tibetan Singing Bowls and Chimes. These instruments work together to restore energetic balance\, promote relaxation\, and create a meditative state of deep rest. \nThis experience is open to all levels\, whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner. Come as you are and give yourself the gift of intentional rest\, movement\, and healing sound. \nWhat to Bring:\n\nYoga mat for your practice\nPillow or bolster for added comfort\nBlanket to stay warm during relaxation\nEye covering (eye pillow or scarf) to deepen your experience\nDress comfortably in soft\, layered clothing to allow for movement and relaxation\n\nAbout the Instructor:\nPolly Garrett is deeply passionate about sharing the transformative power of yoga and its myriad of health benefits. Specializing in both Vinyasa and Yin yoga styles\, she is dedicated to crafting classes that cater to individuals of all skill levels\, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for her students. \nPolly values the sense of generosity and community within the yoga world\, adopting a “have mat\, will travel” approach to attending classes and workshops wherever she can. Alongside her yoga journey\, she has developed a keen interest in the therapeutic effects of Sound Therapy\, utilizing crystal singing bowls\, gongs\, and other healing instruments. She firmly believes that the harmonious integration of yoga\, meditation\, and sound therapy can bring profound peace and balance into the lives of her participants. \nPolly’s personal yoga practice has led her to explore yoga more deeply\, resulting in her becoming a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through HotHouse Yoga. She holds additional certifications in Yin Yoga\, Restorative Yoga\, Yoga for Special Populations\, Yoga Nidra and is a Certified Sound Healing Practitioner. Discover how visionary teachers helped shape communities and generations of learners. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring donations of school supplies—such as crayons\, colored pencils\, and scissors—to support kindergarten and special needs programs. The Brown Bag program was developed by Dr. Stewart Bellman in the 1990’s. Recognizing the Matthews Opera House as an ideal venue for the exploration of humanities topics\, he engaged a line-up of speakers to present programs on a range of humanities topics each month. \nDr. Bellman was a professor of English at Black Hills State University\, Spearfish\, SD. His teaching career spanned thirty years. Bellman retired from BHSU and passed away in November 2002. \nPrograms are presented on the second Wednesday of each month\, noon to 1pm. Designed to begin and end within the lunch hour\, patrons are invited to bring their lunch\, if desired\, or simply enjoy an hour of learning and entertainment.  This is an opportunity to gain insight into themes that touch our daily lives.
